Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers Needed -see Faville Grove Sept 2009 newsletter to join the fun!

Madison Audubon thrives on the energy and willingness of many members to participate in a variety of volunteer activities from committees to brush clearing. Some folks can only do one-time participation, some may only help in one type of activity, and some find longer term involvement rewarding. All are valuable and all are appreciated.

Education

Learn about the natural world with Madison Audubon Society. Dozens of Field Trips are offered throughout the year. Free Public Programs on the Third Tuesday of the month (Sept.-Nov. and Jan.-April) bring interesting speakers on nature-related topics.
Mission

The mission of Madison Audubon Society is to educate our members and the public about the natural world and the threats that natural systems are facing, to engage in advocacy to preserve and protect these systems, and to develop and maintain sanctuaries to save and restore natural habitat.

Madison Audubon Society is
an active chapter of the
Audubon Society and the
Wisconsin Audubon Council

Your membership automatically includes and helps to support all three levels of environmental work and impact - local, state, and national.

Sanctuaries

Madison Audubon Society Wildlife Sanctuaries encompass more than 1,200 acres. Goose Pond Sanctuary includes a prairie pothole and more than 100 acres of restored tallgrass prairie. Faville Grove Sanctuary has wetlands, savanna, and restored prairie. Both sanctuaries are works in progress with ongoing prairie restoration. Other sanctuaries include: Otsego Marsh, Erstad Prairie (Schoeneberg's Marsh), and Zeloski Marsh / Hope Lake Bog
Advocacy

Natural systems are facing numerous threats, most often the result of human activity. Madison Audubon engages in advocacy to protect and preserve natural systems. Action Alerts describe opportunities for citizen input on proposed laws and government regulations. Networking with other environmental organizations amplifies our effectiveness.
