Help Madison Audubon Share Big for birds!

The Big Share is just FOUR DAYS away on March 2, and we can’t WAIT to talk up our bird conservation work with loyal supporters and new audiences. How about you?

Our goal is to raise $7,500 and bring in 40 new members to the flock. Can you help us? The best ways are to:

  1. Make a donation on March 2, especially between 6-7 am - donate here

  2. Create a Facebook Fundraiser - learn more

  3. Post about the day on social media - learn more

The Big Share is a lively day of online giving for Madison Audubon and 70 other Wisconsin non-profits. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the good we’ve done together and share with your friends the ways your favorite local bird organization (ahem!) helps birds, kids, and habitats.

For example, in 2020 alone, a year when people were disjointed, suffering, and seeking the healing balm of nature, Madison Audubon staff and volunteers:

  • acquired 107 new acres of land

  • collected 1,900+ pounds of seed from 320+ native species

  • employed 11 interns who logged 4,470 habitat management and restoration hours at our sanctuaries

  • connected with 400+ kids in 16 virtual classrooms

  • led and inspired kids to create 830 nature journal pages

  • created 105 videos, each reaching an average of 1,980 people

  • wrote 106 blog articles and 48 Friday Feathered Features

  • hosted 14 citizen science programs with 796 volunteers (donating 2,550 hours!)

  • conducted 100 hours of staff professional development relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and

  • led bird conservation efforts across our TEN county service area!

That is incredible, and it’s all because of people like YOU who support this important work.

The Big Share is March 2, 2021, beginning at 12:00am and ending 11:59 pm CST. Set your alarm clock for 6:00am — because between 6 and 7am,  your donation could have an even bigger effect. If Madison Audubon receives the highest number of total donations during that hour — regardless of size — we could win an extra $750 in cash!

Throughout the day, Madison Audubon staff will be live-streaming videos on our Facebook page to introduce ourselves and share a bit about the work we do and why it’s important for birds, habitats, and kids.

Madison is emerging from a long, cold winter that followed a difficult year for many. But migrating birds are returning to southern Wisconsin, and spring is on the way. Madison Audubon is prepared to share the wonders of birds with new audiences through virtual (and, when possible, in-person) programming, secure and manage land for birds, butterflies and other wildlife, and increase our diversity, equity and inclusion efforts to ensure that everyone can enjoy and access the outdoors and its amazing birds.

Thank you for your support, and please Share Big for Birds on March 2!
